With the excessive wet weather we’ve received in the past month, it is very worth mentioning that this can often lead to various disease problems. Lawn diseases are cause by fungus, and fungus tends to love moisture. SO, what diseases could be affecting your lawn? We have put together a new section of our website that will help you to better understand and deal with these particular pests. Just click below to learn more.

Well, we’ve certainly had plenty of rain this year. In fact, it appears as though this is the rainiest June on record. It certainly is the wettest we have ever seen since we’ve been in business. This has basically had the effect of diluting the fertilizers and encouraging fungal diseases. If you are seeing that your lawn appears weak and hungry, please don’t hesitate to touch base. We’ll get out to check up on it. Chances are, it will simply need a bit of additional fertilizer, which is always free of any additional charge.

Well, now’s the time to get a rich, organic fertilizer to gradually spoon feed the lawn during the hot summer months. This is exactly what we are doing now. We are also putting down a mild grub preventer that will inhibit new grubs from growing once hatched. This preventer will work throughout the fall, during the normal months of high risk.

As we are in the midst of a heavy period of lawn growth, it’s worth taking a look at proper mowing habits once again. Good mowing habits simply support the rest of a good program. Bad mowing habits can take a well cared for lawn, and destroy it. Please download this informative sheet to learn more.

Lawn care services are often lumped into two broad categories, Organic and Non-Organic. With the active green movement pressing for environmental safety, the pressure is on to find organic alternatives to traditional chemical controls. Unfortunately, the “Non-Organic” designation is all too often applied broadly to anybody who uses pesticides at any level. In reality, there are huge differences between those who use pesticides to bash any and all critters into submission, and those of us who use a broad spectrum approach that includes organics, cultural approaches like aeration, introduction of naturally strong grass varieties, and judicious use of carefully selected control products.

Since our inception, we have taken great pride in promoting the health and growth of your grass as far more important than the complete control of weed or insect pests. We have actually lost several clients over the years due to our refusal to apply certain pesticides upon their request. If it’s not needed and the damage will be manageable or minimal, we won’t apply it. Conversely, we know of several local businesses who actively promote and apply fungicides on a preventative basis to keep any chance of fungal disease at bay. Unfortunately, this is the horticultural equivalent to you taking heavy doses of antibiotics to prevent yourself from ever getting sick. Not only will it not work long term, you are actually causing active harm.

We also offer an organic lawn service program, which we would be happy to propose to you if you’d like. That said, we felt that it was important to stress that we have always taken a healthy approach, and we have always strived to treat your lawn and the environment properly.

Each year, many of our competitors roll out their marketing plans and invest significant time, money, and resources toward trumpeting a single note. “We can do the same things for much less money!” Oh, if only that were true, we would have been out of business long ago. As it is, we can proudly boast one of the highest renewal rates of any similar business in this area. There’s a simple reason our clients come back year after year. They are getting their money’s worth.

There is a huge difference between the discount companies and Teed & Brown. The quality of the work, the materials used, the employees and the entire business strategies are all geared toward two very separate goals. Our goal is to provide a great quality service for a reasonable price. Their goal is to provide a very low price. As with anything in life, you get what you pay for.

While we understand that money can get tight, our goal always has been to provide you with the quality lawn and service that you deserve. As we do this, we make every effort to keep our costs under control so you do not have to pay more than is necessary.
